SXSWi 2008: Early start

Getting to Austin from Birmingham is the longest single journey I've ever made totalling about 20 hours from start to finish. A group of us went out into Austin last night and managed to get ourselves into a pretty cool party — the opening party for the film side to SXSW. Met a bunch of cool people, sunk some beers and then headed back to the hotel.

Getting around in Austin is strictly by cab. Last night we decided to eat out at a place just across the road from the hotel. Problem was, this road is a freeway, and it can only be crossed by getting a cab to take you round! Was worth it however to witness a burger the size of dinner plate. In Austin I get the impression that everything is larger than life.

Thinking I'd out witted my body clock I crashed out at midnight — a total 26 hours awake — but I awoke at 6am and wide awake. So I decided to get on with the task of ironing flat the promotional materials I brought with me.
