And a whole lot more, like; CSS based animations, client side SQL storage and more. This fills me with excitement and should hopefully increase the number of users of this great web browser*.

I look forward to this new version with anticipation.

* Yes — that's right Neil (before you leave a comment) I said great! I really like Safari and hope that by bringing it up to scratch with tomorrows standards the browser has a great future. For me it outperforms Firefox when it comes to speed and system resources. Not sure about how it performs on a PC. But then again, why would I want to? Ha ha ha ha!

if you don't care about PCs - how come you got 2 at home? :D
Who cares!

Isn't Safari 3 the current version?

I also think that it's ok to add a lot of new features like this but if other browsers don't do it as well and the segmentation remains the same (just under 2% market share) these features will be put to use in OSX bundled software only. Just like Frontpage with it's crazy Internet Explorer only stuff back in Windows 98.

If the guys over at Mozilla and Opera put this stuff in as well then I can see it being more successful. Microsoft will probably make up their own versions of everything.
what's the point of adding a load of extra features in safari that aren't supported by any other browser? How about first making sure safari supports web-standards properly?
