After several months of content migration and population, we’re delighted to finally announce the launch of the Ikon Gallery website to complement and extend Ikon’s offline communications. Click here to view the site. Read on for more about the project.

The new site was built from the ground up. We worked closely with the Ikon to establish what information needed communicating and how.

The primary focus of the site is a programme of events outlining all that happens at the Ikon from exhibitions to family days. The programme of events features a vast archive of past events and are supported with fullscreen bookmarkable slideshow galleries. The programme of events is available via RSS and accessible from any web enabled mobile device. Events are linked to other related events and products in the new online shop — the secondary focus of the site.

The online shop sells Ikon’s own publications alongside other books and goodies. The shop features full product information as well as product recommendations. Expect the shop to grow on the run up to Christmas.

As well as supplying a wealth of other information the site features a comprehensive news section (with RSS feed) as well as a secure press section. The site validates to XHTML Strict, works without images, javascript and Flash (except in the media gallery). We’ve tried to create a site which can be viewed by all without compromising on design.
