I downloaded a bunch of tracks from
this site over the weekend. The site claims to have 21,000+ video game music MIDI files. A quick browse around and I found some real gems buried in there. Theme music from my fave old school arcade
Bubble Bobble was my first download and the incidental music to animal life simulator
Animal Crossing soon followed. And whilst I was at it, how could I forget
this classic. I can almost imagine RUN DMC style 808 beats and rhymes over that!
The Animal Crossing tracks are a strange collection of electronic jazz noodles. They perfectly suit the bizarre world of the game but are strong enough on their own merit. Kind of remind me of innocent & less twisted versions of
Jake Slazenger’s tracks.
As the tunes on this site are all MIDI they can be pulled apart of
reconstructed. I feel the urge for a remix or two coming on. Watch this
space.
Some of my faves tunes were added to the TAK! jukebox this week much to the annoyance of Neil who thinks it’s ‘a bit weird’ to listen to this kind of music. Heh heh heh — great! I’ll add some more…
