Capsule Toys

No not toys made by the Birmingham based Capsule girls who put on great events like Supersonic, but toys from Japanese vending machines. Pingmag have done a great round up of the scene showcasing some of the best and strangest on offer.

R2D2 runnin' tings

R2D2

R2 was alreay pretty cool... but he’s taken this to the 21st century!

I've kept the image quite cryptic so not to spoil the surprise ;)

Mario Kart Wii

MK

Finally got my hands on a Wii and Mario Kart Wii after holding out for months until the launch date. I'm a massive fan of Mario Kart and hammered the DS version to death. The Wii version has a more robust online play and some of the tracks are fantastic (Maple Leaf is my current fave).

So I throw down the gauntlet to any readers with a Wii and Mario Kart, my MK friend code is: 2148 8301 0963 — drop your MK friend code in the comments below and I'll see you on the highways of Mushroom City!

Korg MS10 on your DS

  ds10img

This is a couple of weeks old now but still exciting and fun news that you will be able to run a virtual analogue synth and drum machine on your DS.  Would be nice if it could sync to other users in your vicinity for orchestral action.  Check it

This $120 home-made robot drives up to objects, drums on them and then records the sounds. Have a look at the videos after the jump

Pool Table

This time a snazzy Pool Table. A definitive set of rules now needs to be established...

Bubblegum Beaver

RENDER2RENDER3

We’ve just received this 3D render of the Poky Beaver and it looks great! The 3D work has been created by our new friend Ming from the original clay model created by Shuji Suzuki. I highly recommend Ming for any 3D character work, as you can see, the 3D remodelling is very accurate to the original clay figure.

We also highly recommend Shuji who originally designed and modelled the Beaver character. Shuji describes himself as a 'Clayer' working on one off characters and models.  I originally met Shuji via Myspace about 3 years ago and always wanted to work with him on a 3D logotype. The Poky project was the first chance we could bring his skills into the game and the Beaver he created is fantastic.

We originally featured Shuji in the Walkie Talkie magazine we did for Clarks Originals. That’s his studio below. Wildstye!

So we're in the process of making the Poky beaver into a figure for Opened Hand to give away as a promotional item. Here's the re-modelled 3D renderings ready for production. Looking real nice.

Stop Motion Mario – In Lego

I know, it's amazing.

Insane Lego Creations

carrier2

I've always had a place in my heart for Lego, I used to love tipping boxes of it out onto the floor and building random little cars which I would smash up with my brothers.

Some people prefer to do more serious things with it, like BrickMasterpieces demonstrates. Whole streets in Lego and a massive aircraft carrier among other things. Check it out.
