- “Introduced on Thursday, the bill--titled the Communications Legislation Amendment (Crime or Terrorism Related Internet Content) Bill 2007--would empower the federal police to alter the "blacklist" of sites that are currently prohibited by the Communications and Media Authority.
The list currently includes pornography and "offensive material." However, under the amendment, federal police would be able to add other sites to the list, including content that the AFP Commissioner "has reason to believe...is crime- or terrorism-related content."
The definition of material that may be liable for censorship includes Internet content that "encourages, incites or induces," "facilitate(s)" or "has, or is likely to have, the effect of facilitating" a crime”
This is quite shocking to hear as it’s a small step in the wrong direction. What will be deemed offensive and unacceptable in the future? Freedom of speech and freedom to publish is the very essence of the Web. Will this movement eventually halt file sharing websites? Or, for example, would a site like StickerNation have been blocked as it promoted illegal activities?
Perhaps the most shocking part is that this is in Australia. Coming to a democracy near you real soon.

Houston is the selected works of Jeff Minton & Houston 2003-06. Beautiful & simplistic pieces of work - the axes are very very nice too. I'm sure I have seen something similar on the cover of an album whilst browsing... can't recall the artist/band now.. if you know?
Keen readers of the blog will know I like to hunt down robots hidden in everyday objects. I’ve got a few players… but non match these robots in disguise. They're so good!
A little project we've been working on has just gone live. It’s a product catalogue micro-site for THQ to promote their games available with Tesco. We designed and built the site to work within the Tesco framework with a nod towards THQ’s own style. A content management system allows them to upload product and integrate into Tesco’s e-Commerce store. Product banners can be Flash or static images and the site features a screenshot gallery and media player.

Perhaps the easiest part of the Vista installation — and it still needs an explaination.
Thanks to Marty for the help & advice.
I came across this bit of time wasting information. The constant sliding of the interface isn't my favorite thing ever, but gosh darn its interesting

Makes you realise we're quite small, but there's still a lot of stuff we can squash.
Whilst digging for clips of the Beastie Boys @ Bestival I came across this clip of them on the Letterman show in 2004. I'm a massive fan — they remind me of times when hip hop was fun.
Whilst I’m on it, I have to say they played a fantastic set at Bestival on the Sunday afternoon — was great to see them play some of their instrumentals whilst also rocking the mic at the same time. More Beastie vibes.
Ever wondered what your cat is trying to tell you? A Japanese company hopes to solve this conundrum with a new toy that seeks to interpret your pet's meows. A palm-sized electronic console is held next to the cat in question, and an interpretation of its cries and purrs is displayed on the screen.
Why ever not!
"Meow": (My balls taste funny)
"Meowee": (Go away)
"Purr": (Feed me a tin of that yucky fish stuff NOW!!)
"Meooow": (Don't.. I repeat DON'T pull my frikin whisker again.. see these claws..!!)
and not to be left out...
man's best friend can tell you what he really thinks of chasing that ball over and over again.
Genius!
Right now my fave record label has to be Stones Throw. They consistently put out great music (hip hop, funk, beats) and have a great attitude embracing digital culture. Their podcast is a perfect example. Each month they put up a new DJ mix for download and they put most commercial mixtapes to shame. If you're a fan, then wander over to here and subscribe and grab other free downloads.
I'm also hyped for the Percee P long player - this track below is too much!
This was in the Veer newsletter today — what a great umbrella. It features more than 80 typefaces from their Umbrella Type Collection.
